Holiday Information & Referral Volunteers Needed Now!

Days / Times Needed / Commitment Required:

§  Weekdays, Between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm

§  Minimum of 12 hours per week with flexible scheduling

§  Two-day training provided during the week of October 25-29

§  Volunteer positions run from November 1 through December 20, 2010

 

Qualifications:

§  Excellent communication skills and previous experience working with people over the phone or in a call center environment

§  Background in customer service preferred

§  Computer and typing experience

§  Ability to problem solve

§  Empathetic listener who can remain objective and non-judgmental

§  Ability to work well in a team environment, good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude

§  Bilingual, English/Spanish a plus

 

Job Summary:  

King County 2-1-1 provides information and referrals to callers seeking social and health services. In the fall and winter months we provide referrals to programs providing holiday food and gifts, as well as providing information to callers seeking to donate gifts or their time during the holiday season. We are looking for volunteers who work well in a team environment, possess good interpersonal skills and have a positive attitude! Our Holiday Information & Referral Volunteers will be responsible for providing high quality, comprehensive services to callers. After problem identification and assessment, volunteers will utilize a computer software program to locate appropriate holiday referrals and enter call information. Volunteers will work within a team of 4-20 people, in a casual, but high-call volume, environment. Possibility of transitioning to a paid, part-time position.
