POSITION TITLE:  SURVIVORS OF SUICIDE (SOS) GROUP FACILITATOR

 

JOB SUMMARY:  Part-time, SOS Group Facilitator position available with Seattle’s 24-hour Crisis Line. The person in this position will facilitate a 2-hour Survivor of Suicide Drop-In Support Group held every first and third Monday evening of each month.  The Facilitator will also recruit members for a 6-week closed bereavement group while evaluating and re-developing the group materials as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

·         Mental Health Professional as defined by Washington State Administrative Code

·         Washington State Counselor Registration required; Mental Health or Social Work License preferred.

·         Minimum of three years experience in a mental health setting

·         Minimum of two years experience in grief and loss, bereavement setting

·         Minimum of one year of experience in crisis intervention setting

·         Evidence of group facilitation and leadership skills

·         Evidence of ability to work effectively in a stressful environment

·         Evidence of ability to work with a team of clinical staff and volunteers

·         Evidence of ability to make independent decisions

·         Evidence of ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other professionals in the community

CRISIS CLINIC

Survivor of Suicide (SOS) Group Facilitator

 

JOB SUMMARY:   The SOS Group Facilitator will facilitate the Survivor of Suicide Drop-In Support Group held every first and third Monday of each month.  The Facilitator will also recruit members for an 8-week closed bereavement group while evaluating and re-developing the group material as needed.

 

COORDINATION OF THE SURVIVORS OF SUICIDE PROGRAM (70%)

1.    Document design of program, including the development and on-going revision of a policy and procedure manual.

2.    Ensure quality service delivery of the three program segments:  telephone intervention, drop-in group and bereavement group.

3.    Provide clinical leadership to group facilitators and others providing services to survivors.

4.    Collaborate with the Director of Crisis Services to ensure visibility of program through publicity and by developing productive and positive working relationships with providers in the community who may be referral sources.

 

COMMUNITY LINKAGES OTHER SERVICES (10%)

1.    Provides professional consultation to callers regarding SOS Program.

2.    Provides information regarding the SOS Program to the community as outlined in the SOS Marketing Plan.

3.    Ensures that all activities are documented accurately and completely.

 

TRAINING & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (10%)

1.    Prepares and delivers training to volunteers and in the community as negotiated with Director or Manager of Crisis Services and Manager of Volunteer Services.

2.    Participates in the evaluation and revision of training for the volunteer phone workers.

3.    Maintains required registration requirements and keeps updated on current professional literature and trends in mental health field.
