2-1-1 Community Information Line Changes Name

The 2-1-1 program operated by Crisis Clinic is now officially known as King County 2-1-1. It is the last step in the process of converting the name of the Community Information Line (as it was known prior to 2006) to 2-1-1. Crisis Clinic's goal was to make a gradual transition so that callers understood that the Community Information Line and 2-1-1 were both the same program. "Each of the seven 2-1-1 programs in Washington State are known by a geographical description of the area they serve so it makes sense for our name to be King County 2-1-1," according to Kathleen Southwick, Crisis Clinic Executive Director. All seven 2-1-1 programs are part of the Washington Information Network (WIN211), which is responsible for the planning and coordination of 2-1-1 services statewide.
